History in the Making
Dedicated new ownership is determined to breathe new life into the golf course designed by William Byrd in 1968. Prolific doesn’t even begin to describe Willard Byrd, who is as legendary as you can get in the world of golf architecture. Over the span of 50 years, Byrd designed some of the best courses in the Southeast.

This Hidden Gem of the South, formerly named the Griffin Country Club, was once host to several U.S. Open Qualifiers, decades of Georgia PGA events, and was the filming location for Season 4 Episode 12 of The Walking Dead.”
Both new ownership and employees understand and appreciate the fact that they’re working on a course that was molded by one of the game’s great golf course architects. As a result, they consider it a labor of love. “You’re going into a place that has so much history. When you take over a William Byrd golf course, you have a duty to do right by it, and that’s exactly what we plan to do.”

32-acre Shoal Creek Lake. The pool is open from 9:00 a.m. to sunset 7 days a week beginning in May and continuing to mid-October weather-permitting.
